Mardi Gras is a time of fun and celebration, but for some children, it can be a difficult time. Those with health issues may be unable to participate in the festivities, leaving them feeling isolated and excluded.

That’s where the Krewe of Aquarius comes in. Every year since 1986, members of this Krewe put together baskets filled with toys and goodies and visit children at the Shriner’s Hospital for Children and UTMB Children’s Hospital. The baskets are delivered the day before the Seawall Parade by costumed Krewe members, bringing a little bit of Mardi Gras magic to these children who can’t be there in person.

The Krewe’s Children’s Charities Project has become an annual tradition. It’s a heartwarming reminder that Mardi Gras is for everyone, regardless of their circumstances.
